Hustle N Bustle AU is a Perth-based disc cleaning and resurfacing service for collectors, gamers, resellers and anyone wanting to look after their physical media. Every eligible disc is handled carefully, visually inspected before and after treatment, and processed using commercial-grade equipment.
We use the ELM Eco Pro 2 — a professional-grade disc resurfacing machine used by media libraries, game stores and collectors worldwide. Unlike household cleaning kits or DIY methods, the ELM Eco Pro 2 applies a controlled, radial polishing action that removes surface contamination and light scratches without damaging the disc's data layer. The result is a cleaner, clearer disc that reads more reliably in your player or console.
What we clean
Eligible Disc Types
Suitable discs can be cleaned to remove fingerprints, dust, surface residue and light scratching. Results depend on the condition and damage of each disc.
Standard 12 cm audio CDs, including albums, singles and compilations. Surface marks and fingerprints are common causes of skipping and read errors.
Single and dual-layer DVD-Video discs. Cleaning can restore playback on discs that skip, freeze or fail to load due to surface contamination.
Software, game and data discs for PC. Resurfacing can recover discs that fail to install or throw read errors.
Original PlayStation (PS1) game discs. These are standard CDs and respond well to professional cleaning and resurfacing.
PS2 DVD-based game discs. Surface damage is a common cause of disc read errors on PlayStation 2 consoles.
Original Xbox game discs (DVD format). Cleaning and resurfacing can address surface scratches that cause loading failures.
Xbox 360 DVD-based game discs. Ring scratches from console movement are a common issue that resurfacing can improve.
Wii optical discs. These are a proprietary format but respond to the same cleaning and resurfacing process as standard DVDs.

Inspection, cleaning and return
Eligible discs are inspected, professionally processed and returned. Larger collections receive an estimated turnaround before work begins.
Each disc is visually inspected before processing to assess the type and extent of damage. Eligible discs are then processed through the ELM Eco Pro 2, which applies a controlled radial polish to the disc's playing surface. After processing, each disc is inspected again and returned to you. For larger collections, we'll provide an estimated turnaround time before work begins.
The science
How Disc Resurfacing Works
Disc resurfacing is a mechanical process that removes a very thin layer of the disc's polycarbonate surface to eliminate or reduce scratches and contamination. The ELM Eco Pro 2 uses a radial polishing action — working from the centre of the disc outward — which is the safest and most effective direction for optical media. This is different from circular polishing, which can introduce new read errors.
Surface scratches on CDs and DVDs cause read errors because they scatter the laser beam as it tries to track the data spiral. Resurfacing removes or reduces these scratches so the laser can read the disc reliably.
Fingerprints and surface residue leave oils and particles on the disc surface that block or diffuse the laser. Professional cleaning removes these without leaving new marks or residue.
The ELM Eco Pro 2 is a commercial machine designed for high-volume disc processing. It applies a consistent, controlled polish that is far more precise than manual cleaning or consumer-grade disc repair kits.
Not all damage can be repaired. Cracks, disc rot, label-side damage and very deep scratches that reach the data layer cannot be fixed by resurfacing. We inspect every disc before processing and will advise you if a disc is unlikely to benefit from treatment.
